Sunday, October 20, 2013--Bev :)

Church was so delightful today!  The Primary children presented their Sacrament Meeting program and it was amazing.  I counted 45 children and since we were sitting toward the back, I couldn’t see all of them and I know there more.  The boys were all dressed in white shirts and ties and the girls all wore white dresses and most had white flowers in their hair.  It was a beautiful sight with their dark hair and eyes and bright smiles.  It was like a typical presentation we would see at home with individual parts and lots of singing.  Their messages at the pulpit were shared with an energy and confidence that were truly inspiring.  Most of them—we were told—talked about personal experiences and no one read his part.  All of the singing here is so enthusiastic and these kids measured right up to that expectation.
About half way through the program, they started to sing “Families Can Be Together Forever” and I suddenly realized that they were singing it in English!  It just made me cry.  Their words were said so perfectly.  Then they sang it in their own language and I still cried.  It was like opening the floodgates of emotion and I could imagine each of my sweet grandchildren on that stand looking beautiful or handsome and it was such a tender moment for both of us grandparents.  Toward the end of the program a sweet little girl who couldn’t have been more than three years old was placed on a riser and given a microphone into which she sang a beautiful solo (with some back-up from the rest of the children) and it was wonderful.  It reminded me of Alexis singing at about that age at Jeff’s “Farewell.”
After Church I talked to a sister who speaks English and told her how much we loved the program and how beautiful it was to hear them sing in such perfect English.  She told us that they had learned that song in English just for the North American missionaries.

It was all very heart-warming.  We wish we could attend all the Primary programs your children will participate in about this time of year, but since we can’t, this one today was a great second best.
