It was a beautiful day for the
beautiful messages of General Conference.
What a blessing that we could watch it live on our computer. We have a big screen on our laptops and the
picture was so clear. The international
BYU-TV Channel carried all the sessions, but they were in Spanish, so we
watched on our apartment flat-screen TV and listened as well as watched on the
laptop.
I cried as soon as the Tabernacle
Choir came on, I cried when they prayed for and talked about missionaries, and
then I cried intermittently all through the meetings—a little bit of homesickness
showing through. Hearing all the
wonderful messages in English was so welcome and needed.
Glade
and I watched the Priesthood session together in our apartment just as we did
the General Relief Society Meeting. What
a change. It will be sad in a way if all
the fathers and sons who could attend together abandon tradition and stay at
home to listen and deal with distractions.
I loved it when all of my “men” decked out in white shirts and suits
headed out the door together for the Priesthood session.
There were no roll-out pumpkin and
leaf-shaped cookies baking in our apartment today, but we did manage a few
home-baked orange flavored cookies. Glade
bought cinnamon rolls from our bakery and they tasted wonderful. We’ll add hot chocolate in the morning, but
it feels funny to have it when it is 80+ degrees outside. Maybe we’ll have to leave the AC on J
Love you all and Good night!!
This is Kristie. I agree, the talks were so good!!! I teared up pretty easily too. Mostly with gratitude that we can listen to these amazing messages, and also some homesickness for cousins and grandparents to join in our cookie decorating, and also because I realize how quickly my children are growing up. I want it to all slow down. A lot. We were blessed with nice weather, our first cool weekend. It was in the 60s and felt like heaven. It will be in the 80s again this week, but the nights are finally cool so it feels like fall. We can do pretty good pretending thanks to air conditioning. I'm so glad you had cinnamon rolls and each other to watch conference! I updated the family blog also, more pictures. Hope someone else posts soon.
