Wasn’t conference great! I wish all that I heard, learned, felt, and
resolved to do and change would be available for instant recall. However, I believe those are all “action”
words and it’s up to me to remember and act.
Beverly and I tried to stay with tradition [think
Broulims after Priesthood Session]. I
walked down the hill to the nearest grocery store Friday and bought cinnamon rolls
and Haagen-Dazes ice cream and we sat together and watched all ten hours.
It was nice to hear it all in English. Essentially everything we have been reading,
hearing, and saying outside of our apartment has been in Spanish. The conference
was broadcast on our cable BYU international channel in Spanish but we watched
it on our computer on BYUTV. Even though
the Spanish translation is good and understandable, when you know the voices of
the speakers the impact of what they say is better in their native
language. I’m sure the members here
would agree while listening to the three or four native Spanish speakers who
spoke English in conference whose talks were translated into Spanish. The
members know their voices from hearing them speak in stake and regional
conferences.
Have a good week.
Love, Dad/Grandpa
This is Kristie. I agree with you dad, I wish I could recall all my feelings and declarations of resolve in my head to do better... I need to at least journal next time. I'm glad you got to listen to their voices. I agree it makes a difference. I run into that when I try to listen to the Ensign (not conference issue). It's all read by one voice, so it doesn't really feel like the message is from the actual author. Thanks for taking care of mom, and helping keep traditions alive for her with cinnamon rolls :) Love you both!
