A key to the church was available this morning so I was able to play the piano for an hour and it was wonderful.  It has been weeks since there has been any significant practice and it was rejuvenating although a bit rusty.
It has been about three weeks since we have done any real grocery shopping, so we made a trip to La Colonia this afternoon to stalk up.  My list included pumpkin pie spice and ground cloves.  Hopes of finding either were on the very low side, but I persisted and checked every shelf that even hinted of having spices.  We found whole cloves at last, but the clerk said there were definitely no ground cloves.  Well, I just kept looking and low and behold on a shelf that had a few American products—there they were—both of them!!  It will make what little fall baking we do feel like home.
What a perfect day for Eloise Mara Peterson to make her entry into the world!  Congratulations, Tracen and Melissa.  We are so happy for you.   Grover’s little sister is here at last, and it is all worthy of great celebration and pause for sincere prayers of heartfelt gratitude!   We wish we could be there, but we send you all our love.

The young man had to wait with us for the taxi driver to arrive so he could take back the shopping cart and earn his tip.  The greenery showing in the shopping cart on the far right is Christmas pine garland!  I thought it must be something else, but inside the store there was a whole section of Christmas decorations--lights, tree decorations, and lots of sparkly poinsettias!!  This is barely October!  Rather fitting that there is an ad on the left for a dental tech school of some kind :)

This little kiosk sits just outside the doorway to the grocery store.  The confections here are so very different in looks and in taste.  North Americans have an exaggerated sweet tooth that they don't have here, and we don't see very much chocolate in anything.
