Taking it easier today has helped my foot and it doesn’t hurt so much tonight.  I think the weight of the boot is battering it during the day so keeping it still helps.  It would be so good if I could get around more since I’m losing muscle tone and general conditioning by just sitting and sitting!  But I’m trying to be patient and smile and hope that I don’t become lazy.  Glade just finished the dishes again and I feel guilty!

Two sweet friends came by this afternoon to visit at different times, and talking helped the time pass much more pleasantly than TV, etc.  One of them brought some “dry shampoo” for me to try and the other one brought homemade fudge right out of the pan and it was still warm.  We had such great visits and it’s really fun to have friends.  There were also more phone calls and I especially love talking to family any time!  Thanks so much.

One of the brothers—a senior missionary—fell last night in his bathroom and has a concussion and will be down for a week or two.   And on a tragic note, our stake president and his wife were exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning early this morning and he is not doing well.  She went to the gym early and when she returned home found her husband unconscious.  She was affected, too, but was not as exposed and is reportedly doing well.  But the stake president as of tonight was not responding to treatment and had no brain activity, so it would truly take a miracle for him to recover.  It is terribly sad.

Glade said that this was the third day in a row that young missionaries from our area have come to the temple.  They are from the same mission and about 50 have come each day.

Even after all the faith we develop and the goodness of our lives, hard things will challenge the Lord’s children.  But I have always been drawn to this quote by Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone—an emeritus general authority some of you may not remember—and know that it is true.  The promised spiritual blessings are powerful.

Love to you and prayers for your success and happiness always!  😊

  1. That is tragic news about your stake president. I hope you guys have working carbon monoxide detectors in your apartment. Glad your foot is feeling better. Enjoy being lazy, it gets easier.
