The sister who plays
for the Spanish Ward Primary was ill today and asked if I would play in her place. It was really fun to be in Primary again and
see all the energy emanating from those cute kids. The greetings, prayers, talks, instruction,
etc. were all in Spanish, but the singing was taught by a Sister Missionary who
is a native English speaker and it was all in English. The children were bilingual and the adults
spoke some English from what I could tell, but it was a fun time.
Our testimony meeting
today was a spiritual feast and most of the participants were brethren. Their experiences and knowledge of the Gospel
lent to beautiful messages that were very inspiring. The auxiliary lessons were excellent as
well. Many of these missionaries seem to be the
cream of the crop so to speak, in that they have faithfully served in the Church for a long time
and have learned a lot through their experiences and application of Gospel
principles. I feel like I fall a little
short, but hope to raise the bar for myself in light of so many great examples.
We had a break-the-fast
meal in one of the apartments about 6:30 p.m. and enjoyed the sociality as well
as the food. After that, we joined in a
birthday celebration for a brother who turned 80 years old today. His wife and three of his daughters from Arizona and Washington had planned
a surprise for him and the girls showed up today after church! His wife said he cried and cried and the
surprise was a huge success! I’m certain
it wasn’t as good as my birthday surprise, which was spectacular; but tonight,
he is having a great reunion with his daughters!
I hope you were able to
enjoy the First Presidency Christmas Devotional tonight. It always gives meaning and perspective to
this beautiful event of the Savior’s birth that we celebrate.
Love you all and have a
wonderful week. Be safe, be smart, be
happy, and love each other!!
Hugs to you all. Love Mom😊
