Wednesday, November 1, 2017

I love November and its launch of the holiday season.  We are headed straight to Thanksgiving now, probably my favorite holiday, and it will come quickly.  We are keeping extremely busy here both in and out of the temple, and that will keep me from getting homesick for a family gathering, even if they have become very small in numbers.

We have a gas stove and it’s hard to adjust to it.  Twice the gas has accidentally been turned on by bumping up against the knobs, and my sweater nearly caught fire when I was reaching over a burner!  It’s a good thing a person can detect the smell, or we would be in trouble.  We’re learning to be careful and cover our tracks!

There was a determined flock of birds on the grass this afternoon that--after being scattered by people or traffic--regrouped again in the same spot.  There did not seem to be a spill of “seeds” or anything—just determined birds.

There are random trees radiating beautiful color amidst the green of the other trees.  Some just seem to be so slow!  But it’s okay.  The early “turners” have now lost their glory so I’m happy there are more coming.

Sorry--couldn't resist another cute squirrel eating a nut.
The nuts were falling from the trees and the squirrels were going crazy!

  1. Good thing I don't have a gas stove right now...I wouldn't be able to smell if it were on!
