At mid-day the
temperature was about 16 degrees; tonight it was about 10 degrees and was heading
down to about 7. However, the wind chill
put the temps at about 0 and we felt cold to the bone all day long.
Glade’s sinus issue was
much better today so we ventured to Safeway to get a gallon of milk and a few
sundries. I was layered with my thermal
pajama top, a long-sleeve sweater, a sweatshirt with a hood, my winter coat, a
scarf, and gloves. After 15 minutes of
shopping my left-hand index finger had a Raynaud's Syndrome episode! My fingers, even though I was in the store
and wearing gloves, were freezing and all of a sudden, my poor finger started
to burn and sting and I knew what was going to happen. There was only one warm place for my hand, so
I took off the glove and reached down my neck inside my clothes and tucked my
hand under my arm. It took about ten
minutes before there was finally some relief and the poor withered white finger
started to pink up a little and recover.
It’s kind of scary! It was not
warm in the grocery store, but it didn’t seem cold enough to cause that to
happen again.
A stake from Columbia
had a meeting on the seventh floor in the Priesthood room tonight; and in spite
of the cold, they filled the temple for a while performing ordinances before
and after their stake meeting upstairs.
There was a Spanish session tonight, too, that was very well attended,
so things were very busy and it felt great!
I was hostess in the Celestial from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. tonight and the
room was just full of people—more than I have ever seen. It looked like what we might imagine Heaven to
be—full of friends and family and lots of love.
Good night. Love and hugs to everyone—especially
Kim on her birthday!
