We went on a little
outing today that started at the church.
Glade drove the car around to our patio door again to make getting in easier, and added more lines
to the grass. He says it will all grow back fine. We went to the church so I
could see how playing the piano in Church in three weeks is going to go. Of course, the booted foot can’t work the
pedal so that is a major stumbling block right off the bat. The Bach numbers I practiced were fine, but
not the solo for church. Maybe I can
take the boot off long enough to play and then put it back on again!
The next stop was the
post office and then a quick stop at Safeway for fruit. I just waited in the car while Glade took
care of those two things; and by the time we got home, my foot was crying out
for elevation and a rest! But it was
good to get out of these small four walls for a little bit.
My visiting teaching
partner stopped by today and brought a handled paper bag full of about 100
paper strips each having a written question on it. She told me that by the time the questions
were all answered, my personal history would be written. There were some interesting and
thought-provoking questions and it could make any life history more
entertaining than just chronological events and facts. Maybe I’ll share some here when I start
writing. She said this activity was to
help me pass the time. She also looked
at my foot with just a thin sock covering the toe and asked me if my toes got
cold. I told her yes, especially since
the floor area is always so cold and my socks won’t fit over the boot. She said, “Wait, I’ll be right back,” and she
went back to her apartment and returned with a pair of large, red, crocheted
slippers. We stretched one over the end
of the foot and boot and it worked great!
Her thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. I also received a couple of packages in the
mail full of fun things to do to help pass the time, and these activities will
be wonderful. My heart is full of thanks for so much kindness and thoughtfulness.
Love to you all. Have a great week-end and stay safe! 😊
