Glade and I led the session at 5:00 p.m.
which was attended by a few members of our ward, including a couple who were
there for the first time and were going to be sealed after the session. They had three children who were being sealed
to them ages 14, about 11, and 8 years old. It just warms your heart to see this blessing
come into the lives of such sweet people.
Someone in the ward gave a party for some other people and we were invited. We were told
initially that it was for the North Americans to celebrate the Fourth of
July. That wasn’t it. Someone else said it was for all the missionaries. That wasn’t it either. There were not enough people for a ward
gathering and there were almost no children. It was a fairly small group. Anyway, we were released a couple of hours
early from the temple so we could attend.
The food was delicious, and of course, we were starving. Since we have to get up at 4:00 a.m. we left
after the meal so we could get to bed early (that was at 9:30 p.m.) but there
were plans for dancing and entertainment which we sadly had to miss.
We sat next to a young couple who had been
married for about two years. She spoke
English and it made me so happy. Her
husband had a bandaged foot and was on crutches. He is a university student and had tripped and
fallen on his foot while hurrying on campus.
They just lost a six-month-old baby who didn’t survive a necessary surgery
although the odds were good that all would go well. It’s really hard on them, but they are doing
their best under the circumstances.
