Church was great again with good lessons, teachers, comments and testimonies by members.  Beverly got to show her accompanist expertise with the music class again.  It’s fun to watch the Hermanas and Hermanitas and the Instructor approach this learning opportunity with such enthusiasm and upbeat tempo!
This evening when we walked around the temple grounds, we noticed that the church was open with someone in a classroom.  So I returned to the apartment and brought Beverly’s piano music back to the church.  She played for an hour while I read Parley P. Pratt’s biography and talked to the High Priests Group leadership which was having their weekly meeting.
One day this week I acted as proxy for the deceased son of a sweet 90-year-old Hermana who was first sealed to her husband and then they were all sealed together as a family. Afterwards, the sealer presented her with a picture of the Tegucigalpa Temple and the signed and sealed marriage certificate. I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she clutched them close to her with tears of joy. It was a very touching and spiritual moment for everyone in that sealing room.  One of the great joys of temple work is conversing with the patrons about their special circumstances which have brought them to the temple. Their faith, testimonies, humility, and love for others are so uplifting.
This past week was extremely busy.  Fourteen buses rolled in from all parts of Honduras and Nicaragua between Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning with all ages of “Sunday-Best” dressed House of Israel.  Beverly and I officiated the 5:30 a.m. session and it was almost full.  Friday and Saturday were filled to temple capacity.  GP
This is Beverly now.  After being here for several weeks, I realized that Sundays have not been giving me the spiritual lift that I crave and depend on.  The language barrier is still too great for me to pick up much more than a few words here and there so I am not benefiting from the messages in Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, and Relief Society.  So I used my kindle today and read conference talks and the lessons the whole time and felt so much more renewal.  I can feel the Spirit in the meetings, the love of the people, and their testimonies; but now I can benefit from Gospel messages as well.

It was wonderful to end the day with an hour of piano playing tonight!  Oh Happy Day!
Thanks for your comments on these posts.  They come to me as emails so they are all read and much appreciated.

These plants along the "Angel Moroni Rush" trail (the sidewalk on the side of our hill) are coming into bloom and are beautiful.  They are more red than the picture shows.

Glade liked this view of our apartment building from the temple grounds.  Our apartment, #202, is on the second floor on the left side of the building on the back side.

I love these beautiful plants around the temple grounds.
This view faces the chapel from the West side of the temple.

This is the West side view of the temple as we left the chapel tonight.

  1. This is Kristie. I love these pictures! The one of your apartment building reminds me of the view of the Hawaii temple. It looks beautiful there and you both look great. We miss you like crazy! It will be fun to skype on fathers day. Dad, thanks for sharing your experiences. I love that you are meeting so many people. I worried that being temple workers you somehow wouldn't get to really meet and talk to people and hear experiences from them...as much as you would in a proselyting mission, but it seems you are receiving that blessing in the temple as well. So glad you got to play the piano mom, and the kindle during church was a great idea. Just don't get distracted and start playing scrabble;) Love you both!
