This day of R&R did not turn out
as planned, but ended up being great. We
walked, did laundry, and prepared to take a taxi to do our grocery
shopping. Glade took a short rest while
I finished getting ready, and then got up super dizzy and nauseous. He figured it was an inner ear issue, took
Musinex-D, rested for a couple of hours, and then slowly recovered.
In the mean time, I went back to
studying Spanish and had a great session. This was all accompanied by a “Fourth of July
fireworks” style thunderstorm that was amazing!
I worried about the Angel Moroni on the temple because it is up so high
and stands all by itself. The thunder broke
and cracked all around us and we opened our great big windows so we could hear
it and listen to the rain.
There is a small convenience-type
store next to the bakery, so later in the day we decided to walk down there to
see if they had any apples or other fruit.
When we first went outside, the thunder and lightning had ended; but it
was pouring rain. I talked Glade into
waiting a little. About 45 minutes later
we tried again. It was still raining,
but not so hard; so we grabbed our umbrellas and went for it. It felt great outside and turned out to be
fun. I wanted to take pictures, but they
wouldn’t have been any good.
We had a getting-to-know you Home
Evening tonight. Fun and games aren’t
often my style, but I jumped in to be a good sport and it went okay. It is a great group of people with so much
diversity!
It’s back to the early shift
tomorrow. We have to be at the temple by
6:00 a.m. so we are starting the end of day routine. Hope you all had a great Home Evening!
This is Kristie. I'm so proud of you mom, for jumping in and playing games. Hopefully you didn't have to sit on anyone's lap;) I loved your description of the rain. I can picture you studying with all that powerful nature rumbling around you. Good job on your spanish. Keep working hard. I just told the kids a little about Grandma and Grandpa Cook tonight at home evening for our family history highlight. And I shared how i remember what hard workers they were. You are making them proud and grateful, I know it. Love you ! Keep "dancing in the rain" :) Good luck with your early morning!
