The “Church” hired a new security
company and all of our guard friends have been replaced by new people. It’s rather sad and we miss them. The new ones have really tightened the rules
and don’t seem to budge on any regulation they establish. One of the buses arrived in the middle of the
night two nights ago; and since no one had a phone number for the residence
building, the guards wouldn’t let them pass through the gates until
morning. Not being allowed into the
compound was apparently not well received by the visitors from Nicaragua, but
they had to take responsibility since their planning and preparations were neither
timely nor adequate.
There was another theft in the temple,
so the tightened security seems important.
Outsiders can easily mingle with members and go unnoticed where they
shouldn’t be allowed. Everyone is
friendly and receptive and too trusting as Church members often are. We do appreciate the extra safety efforts.
The power went out briefly while we
were in the temple today and it was a very eerie feeling as systems shut down
and complete silence ensued. It wasn’t
out long, thank goodness, and everything went right back onto schedule.
Below are pictures of a few trees taken on the temple grounds this morning that are blooming and bearing tiny fruit. I don't know what they are called--they just looked beautiful today.
