It was a big day that started with major preparations for our FHE responsibility.  Glade studied his lesson presentation and I practiced saying an opening prayer in Espanol.  I made time to exercise, then baked four dozen corn muffins, did some laundry, and washed my hair.  Just after 11:00 a.m. we called our favorite taxi driver, David, who picked us up for the trip across the city to Office Depot and Price Smart.  His car is old, there are no seat belts, and the AC is the breeze from the rolled-down windows; but David is cheerful and we like him and are happy to give him our business.  We are building friendship and trust.  Driving here is treacherous, but he maneuvers very well.
At Office Depot we finally found power strips but still no extension cords, a floor lamp for Glade, batteries for my mouse (hooray!) binders, paper, and other miscellaneous office supplies.  We stuffed our purchases into two large shopping bags and headed across the street to Price Mart for a few groceries.  We were required to “check” our shopping bags from Office Depot outside the store and were given a red disc with a claim number on it.  It made us a little nervous to leave our things there, but we had no choice.
We bought large bags of frozen berries—delicious blue berries, black berries, and raspberries—whipped cream in a can, and Pirouline cookies for a FHE treat to go with the corn muffins, butter and honey.
Glade gave a great lesson from Church History tonight about the Prophet Joseph Smith’s early family life and the background that helped prepare him to become the prophet.  The Smith’s were amazing people.
And yes, I did overcome my fears enough to say my four line opening prayer in Spanish.  It was so intimidating, but Sister Amado said my pronunciation was very clear, so that made me happy.  Glade also asked me to read another small part in the lesson since everyone else was participating, so I complied.  The refreshments disappeared and the clean-up is in progress.  Our next turn doesn’t come until November 4th.

The schedule puts us back to afternoons/evenings for two weeks now, so the pressure to sleep is eased a little.  It was nice to have long afternoons last week though.  We send our love, as always!!
