After our busy, busy day at the temple,
Glade decided to walk to the City Mall and then stop at the store for a few
groceries. An obrero who was leaving
about the same time offered him a ride; and since it was pretty hot outside, he
gratefully accepted. At the mall he
found computer paper, which we are nearly out of; an insulated lunch carrier to
take to the temple instead of green plastic grocery bags; and his giant protein
powder drink mix from GNC which is always a percent off during the first week
of the month.
With the “mall” list completed and
heavy laden with his parcels, he started his short walk to the grocery store
where he would “check” those purchases at the front of the store while shopping. The sidewalk is narrow, uneven, and in places
broken. Traffic on the busy street is an
arms-length away and the sidewalk is always crowded with people and today was no exception. Well, all of a sudden, he tripped on broken incline
and went down! His hands were full so
he couldn’t really catch himself very well and one knee and a few knuckles took
the brunt, followed by his head. He had
his cap on and that saved him breaking the skin on his head. It sounds worse than it ended up being, but
he had people on all sides of him coming to his aid and asking him if he was
all right. He said everyone was very
concerned and very kind. It’s amazing,
but he didn’t even raise a lump on his head and his bleeding hand soon did okay
so he could remove the napkin wrapped around it. He doesn’t seem much worse for the “wear”
tonight, thank goodness. I’m sure it was
because of the prayers I sent upward for him as he left.
